Upgrading heating at Campus Safety with a modern heat pump system

Behind the scenes at Campus Safety, an important upgrade is underway to keep this essential hub comfortable, dependable, and aligned with campus sustainability goals.

The existing furnace system has reached the end of its service life and experienced an increasing rate of failures. Rather than replace it with another fossil-fuel system, this project moves Campus Safety to a high-efficiency, fully electric heat pump solution designed for long-term reliability and performance.

What’s Changing?

  • Removal of the aging furnace system that has become unreliable and maintenance-heavy
  • Installation of a modern electric heat pump system for efficient, all-electric heating
  • Improved temperature control and system performance throughout the space

Why This Matters

Campus Safety operates around the clock. Reliable heating isn’t a luxury—it’s essential.

This upgrade delivers:

  • Greater system reliability with modern equipment designed for continuous operation
  • Improved energy efficiency and lower operating costs
  • Elimination of natural gas use for heating, supporting campus carbon reduction goals
  • Simpler maintenance and longer equipment lifespan

What You’ll Notice

While most of the work happens behind mechanical doors, the benefits are immediate:

Consistent, dependable indoor comfort
Quieter, more efficient operation
A building that now runs on clean, electric heating

It’s a smart, future-focused improvement that ensures Campus Safety can continue supporting the campus community—comfortably and reliably—for years to come.
