Tomorrow’s Advocates

The Tomorrow’s Advocates program enables select Lewis & Clark law students to work full-time with PEAC during the summer months as externs. The program provides substantial benefits to students, PEAC and its clients:

  • Students working with PEAC during the summer gain significant experience in public interest environmental litigation and advocacy though concentrated training and mentoring, client interaction, and intensive legal research and drafting.
  • PEAC’s ability to serve its clients year-round is enhanced by the summer externship program. During the academic year, law students working with PEAC for credit help create one of the nation’s largest and most effective environmental law clinics. PEAC’s full-time summer externs ensure the clinic’s capacity outside of the traditional school year.
  • The environmental community reaps benefits from increasing the pool of law school graduates with substantial real-world experience and training. PEAC students and externs are, literally, tomorrow’s advocates for our natural heritage. Many PEAC alums now lead the charge in working to preserve and protect the environment as attorneys in public interest, government, and private practice.
