From the Dean

Dean Jennifer Johnson and Bruno Dean Jennifer Johnson and BrunoDear friends,

I am so excited to announce the establishment of the Advocacy Center at the law school. We have been working on the idea for some time. The Center reinforces our strong commitment to preparing students to be practice-ready advocates, and enables us to add new classes and expanded competitions to give students the skills they need.

Along with the Advocacy Center, I am also pleased to showcase our new classroom courtroom, the Bergman Courtroom, for our students to practice their newfound litigation skills.

We could not achieve either of these dreams without the support from our donors and the Portland legal community. I am extremely grateful to all of you who have given your time, talent and resources to train future attorneys.

In other news in these pages, you’ll see a bit of our construction efforts this summer, revitalizing the Boley Law Library research desk, our classrooms, and areas in Wood Hall for students and clinics. In addition, I trust that you will be impressed—as I am—with the many accomplishments of faculty, students, and alumni.

I have had the pleasure of meeting so many of you this past year and I look forward to more of that this year. Alumni gatherings are one of the highlights of being a Dean as I learn how the law school initiated some very interesting and successful life journeys. Warmest wishes,

Jennifer Johnson
