Latest Victory for Northwest Environmental Defense Center

Following threatened legal action from Lewis & Clark’s Northwest Environmental Defense Center for allegedly violating federal clean water laws by allowing pollution from scrap metal operations to flow into the Willamette River, Schnitzer Steel Industries has promised to spend one point six million dollars upgrading stormwater management systems by the end of the summer. “It is impressive to see that Schnitzer is willing to move forward so aggressively with this much-needed […] investment in this challenging economic climate,” said Mark Riskedahl, Executive Director of the NEDC.
