The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) works to protect and defend individual liberties that are guaranteed by the United States Constitution. The ACLU seeks to extend rights to segments of our population that have traditionally been denied their rights, including people of color, women, lesbians, gay men, bisexuals and transgender people, prisoners, and people with disabilities. We believe that the rights of our society’s most vulnerable members must be safeguarded, if these rights are denied, then all of our rights are in jeopardy.

The purpose of Lewis & Clark Law School ACLU is to promote the cause of civil liberties among the students, faculty and staff at Lewis & Clark Law School and to take such action to further this purpose as is consistent with the policies and regulations of the American Civil Liberties Union of Oregon.
