SALDF students work on public comments throughout the academic year, commenting to federal and state agencies regarding regulatory decisions about animals.

Wildlife organization, Big Wildlife, is partnering with us to provide pro bono credit for our work on public comments! We also sometimes contribute to relevant comments submitted by NEDC.

E-mail our Pro Bono Chair, Melissa Young, for information on opportunities, or see our Public Comments page.

Check out the past public comments that SALDF students have worked on so far!

Four Feet Forward

FFF has a growing list of lawyers from various parts of the country who are available to help animal organizations who either wish to pursue a case or, in some situations, are defendants in a case, Their lawyers can also assist animal organizations with their transactional legal needs such as forming tax-exempt organizations and advice on federal and state tax issues.

They are welcoming our SALDF students who are interested in doing legal or other research for FFF, Generally, when they set up a consultant with a nonprofit organization that needs pro bono help, the consultant must be independent and needs to take a fair amount of initiative to complete the project, but FFF members will be available to provide whatever guidance we can to any SALDF student doing a FFF project.

Remember: as a student, you cannot give legal advice unless you are working under another attorney!

E-mail our Pro Bono Chair, Melissa Young, for a copy of the questionnaire.
