Becky Straus received the Larry K. Amburgey Commitment to Public Interest Law Award for her work at the Oregon Eviction Defense Project, which provides free legal help, information, or referrals to low-income tenants facing eviction. It has assisted close to 10,000 households sinceits start in early 2021. Straus recalls her time at the law school as the foundation and inspiration for her decision to practice public interest law. She received a Public Interest Law Project (PILP) summer award when she was a law student before her graduation in 2009.
