Client Spotlight - WRICO Generators, LLC

WRICO Generators, LLC is a generator manufacturing company based in Eugene, Oregon. They design and build custom power generation systems for businesses, public agencies, agriculture operations, telecommunications companies, and anyone else who simply cannot afford to lose power.

Power outages are an inconvenience for most people. For WRICO Generators’ customers, they can mean something far worse. WRICO builds backup, mobile, and custom generator systems for clients where reliable power is a matter of safety—hospitals, remote operations, emergency responders, farms and telecom infrastructure that has to stay online no matter what.

The company didn’t start out as the structured manufacturer it is today. For years, WRICO operated as a hands-on generator shop built on technical know-how and word of mouth. That foundation is still there, but the business has grown around it—more processes, more employees, and more customers counting on them to deliver.

As that growth continued, Jamie and Hogan reached a point where the business needed more than just good engineering behind it. Intellectual property questions, trademark concerns, employment documents, a non-solicitation agreement—the legal side of running a growing manufacturer had started to pile up. They connected with the SBLC while searching for legal guidance that actually understood what it’s like to run a small business day-to-day.

“What made SBLC stand out was the combination of professionalism, accessibility, and practical support,” they shared. That combination mattered. For a small business owner already juggling customers, employees, and operations, the last thing anyone needs is legal help that’s hard to reach or difficult to understand.

The assistance they received covered a lot of ground, such as trademark filings, office action responses, employment-related documents, and non-solicitation agreements. But what stuck with them wasn’t just the paperwork, it was the guidance that came with it. The SBLC team helped WRICO understand the reasoning behind each piece of legal work and how it connected to the company’s long-term growth. “The team helped us identify legal blind spots and potential pitfalls before they became bigger problems,” they noted, which for any growing business, is often where the real value lies.

One moment stood out in particular: working through the trademark and office action—essentially a letter from the USPTO raising concerns about a filing—can feel like hitting a wall. SBLC helped make that process feel manageable. Legal matters can feel overwhelming for a small business owner,” they said, “but SBLC made the process understandable and gave us confidence that we were taking the right steps to protect the business.”

The employment documents and non-solicitation agreement from that work are still in active use today. So is the broader mindset shift that came out of the experience—thinking more strategically about brand protection, company structure, and how legal foundations connect to business growth.

Their advice to other small business owners is blunt: don’t wait for something to go wrong. “Legal guidance is not just for emergencies; it is part of building a strong foundation for the business.” WRICO has since referred other small businesses to the SBLC, a reflection of how much they valued the experience.

We’re glad we could help WRICO build something that lasts. We look forward to watching the company continue to grow, and to keeping the lights on for the customers who depend on them!
