Jess Peterson

Assistant Director of Career Services

Jess Peterson serves as the Assistant Director of Career Services, and loves being a source of support for her fellow Career Services team members, as well as current students, alumni, and employers. Jess assists with the day-to-day functions of the office and connects students, alumni, and employers with each other and her colleagues. If you have a question, Jess will have an answer, or a direction to point you in. She is a frequent contributor to the Career Services Blog and assists with career programming and recruitment events and postings. Jess is also available to assist MSL students with their resumes and navigating their career path.

Born and raised in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, Jess moved to Seattle after earning her BA in English from Northern Michigan University. While enjoying the mountains and live music that western Washington has to offer, she explored a variety of paths, having worked in education, baking, and floral design. Ultimately, she realized that she needed to find a place to funnel her compassion, and decided to seek a career as a therapist. She is currently pursuing a Master’s in Professional Mental Health Counseling at Lewis & Clark.

Outside of work, Jess loves music (especially the local punk and indie music scenes), hiking and stand-up paddleboarding, baking, and all kinds of artistic endeavors, especially drawing and printmaking.

To reach her, please email jpeterson@lclark.edu or call 503.768.6995.

For students, Jess is a counselor for MSL students and is happy to take a look at their resumes and cover letters. Jess is available to answer general questions about the services of our office, and connect you with the correct person should she not be the proper person to assist. She also maintains the Work Plans Wednesday newsletter.

For employers, Jess can assist by being an initial contact for inquiries about circulating job opportunities and participating in organized recruitment opportunities.

For alumni, Jess loves to connect alumni to students in networking and career exploration opportunities.

For donors, Jess is available to connect you with our giving team to discuss the impact that your donation to the Lezak Legacy Program, the Public Interest Law Project, or the Loan Repayment Assistance Program can have in making public interest possible for our students and alumni.
