Sustainable Agriculture

NEDC’s Sustainable Agriculture group is focused on promoting sustainable agriculture and protecting the Pacific Northwest from the harms of  pesticides. To achieve this end, the Sustainable Ag group comments on various pesticide regulations, conducts legal research, and hosts events to raise awareness about current food issues. For example, we commented on the deregulation of Dow’s 2,4-D resistant genetically engineered corn. The Sustainable Ag group works actively to submit comments and research topics such as agricultural legislative history, a history of the Farm Bill, a history of seed patents, and GE policy frameworks. The Sustainable Ag group also works in close collaboration with other NEDC project groups and outside organizations to further promote sustainable agriculture and food systems.
