Special NAVRA In-Person CLE - Get Ahead of the Curve: Title IX Training

Date: 9:00am - 4:00pm PDT May 21

In the ever-evolving and complex landscape of Title IX, effective victims’ rights advocacy requires understanding schools’ legal obligations, navigating unique processes, and protecting client rights in parallel civil and criminal processes. TIX Education Specialists are the experts on what it takes for schools to be compliant, and trauma-informed practices on campus. On May 21st, NCVLI’s Alliance of Victims’ Rights Attorneys & Advocates (NAVRA) is teaming up with TIX to bring you a full-day in-person training covering Title IX investigation from beginning to end, offering strategies and a comprehensive toolkit for successfully navigating a case. Participants will walk away up-to-date on the latest law and with enhanced practice skills after examining a case study drawn from real cases. This is a must-have training for anyone working with students navigating a Title IX case or whose campus victimization has given rise to civil or criminal proceedings.

The day will be led by Jackie Sandmeyer, Founder and Principal of Title IX Education Specialists, LLC. They received their Bachelor of Science from University of Idaho and is a Juris Doctor candidate at Willamette University of Law. After creating the country’s first statewide Title IX training and technical assistance program for colleges and universities, Jackie sought to fill the need for further capacity in training and consultation related to sexual harassment and interpersonal violence nationally. They have worked with colleges and universities, law enforcement, prosecutors, and community based service providers to identify and create some of the nation’s leading models in Title IX and student victim services. From pioneering education based legislation that spread to other states to developing new and emerging campus based investigation techniques, Jackie and their team bring this experience and more to TIX and its clients. In addition, Erin Greenawald and Meg Garvin will facilitate conversations throughout the day.

MCLE Accreditation:

An application will be submitted to Oregon State Bar for 5.5 general MCLE credits. The training may be eligible for MCLE credit in other states; a certificate of attendance will be available after the program.
