Federalist Society - Two More Events, Elections, and Year Recap

The Lewis & Clark Law School Chapter of th Federalist Society has hosted a great set of debates, panels, and speakers this year on topics such as Citizens United v. FEC, school vouchers, immigration, health care, and climate change. We’ve had 650+ people attend our 11 events and enjoy free lunch at our events this year (including 125 people at our Citizens United event). We sent a few of our students to Charlottesville, Virginia for the National Student Symposium this year (all travel and lodging expenses paid) where they were able to meet and sit in on a discussion with Clarence Thomas. We aren’t done yet! 

On April 15 we have the honor of hosting M. Francois Briard, a member of the highest judicial body in France, to discuss the banning of the burqa. We hope to turn this event into a debate or commentary, so stay tuned. We are also planning another debate on an international law topic with BYU professor David Moore. More details on these events will be forthcoming. 

Also, elections for next year’s officers will be taking place soon. Those of you on our email list should receive an email soon about this. Incoming 1L’s, we are one of the only groups on campus where you can become an officer right away. The Federalist Society is one of the most important and influential legal networks and legal policy organizations in the country. Our officers meet and meaningfully interact with a number of top legal and policy scholars and attorneys.
