On Thursday, April 2nd, 2015, Walter Echo-Hawk delivered a lecture on his book In the Light of Justice. Current law students, faculty, alumni, Tribal representatives and community members attended the event. The lecture focused on his book, which examines the proposition that Native American rights are inalienable human rights. It urges Indian Country to stride toward the human rights framework created by the UN Declaration of the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. Many of the evening’s guests attended the reception following the lecture. Those in attendance were able to meet Walter and purchase his book, which he signed. According to Carma Corcoran, Indian Law Summer School Coordinator, the event was wonderful and inspiring.
