Recent Graduate Council

Letter From the President

Dear Alumni,

As the Lewis & Clark Law School centennial year drew to a close, we celebrated the accomplishments of our graduating class at the Recent Graduate Council’s annual Graduate Sendoff. Many of these latest alumni are growing from students into attorneys. Regardless of their plans, all members of the Class of 2016 are undergoing some kind of transition, and it will be just the first of several they make over the next 10 years.

Now a fifth-year associate at Dunn Carney, I have been practicing long enough to both witness and experience many transitions. From clerk to lawyer, associate to partner, “big law” to solo practice, attorney to entrepreneur, such progressions illustrate the diversity of careers—in the legal profession and beyond—available to our graduates, and the necessity of a community that continually fosters growth and opportunity. The Recent Graduate Council works to ensure that whenever our newest alumni make their transitions, they have support from those who have been there and know what it takes to get to the other side.

As you recall each of the significant steps you’ve made in your own career, I hope you remember those who provided assistance and support, and decide to join us at our next event. I encourage both new and seasoned alumni to take full advantage of the Recent Graduate Council’s programs to keep connected to the law school community. I look forward to meeting each of you and learning about your transitions, past and future.

Sincerely,

David Boyer ’12
