PILP Auction Goes Virtual and Raises $63K
The 30th Annual Public Interest Law Project (PILP) Auction, which was held in February 2021, raised over $63,000. These funds gave 10 students summer stipends to work in unpaid internships at nonprofit legal advocacy organizations, legal aid clinics, public defender’s offices, and other public interest organizations.
Lezak Legacy Fellows Serve the Oregon Community
Four students working for nonprofits and government offices this summer have been selected as the 2021 Lezak Legacy Fellows. Adrienne Del Monte ’22 and Eliza Silverman ’22 worked at the Metropolitan Public Defender, Dara Illowsky ’22 worked at Crag Law Center, and Marisa Fiat ’23 worked with the Oregon Health Justice Project. Honoring Sid Lezak, the Lezak Legacy Fellowship provides summer stipends to current law students who demonstrate a commitment to serving the Oregon public. The Lezak steering committee also matches fellows with mentors from the Oregon legal community.

From the Dean
Speaking with students is one of my favorite parts of being dean. At Lewis & Clark Law School, I’ve discovered a rare and powerful combination: students who pair fierce dedication to their mission with deep collaboration and a genuine commitment to each other’s success.

Beyond the Bar
Most graduates of law school go on to practice law, working in law firms or providing legal counsel to organizations and businesses. Yet, for some, the lessons of law apply more broadly, and the outcome of their law school education has been a surprising and successful career outside of law.
