Professor Parikh Organizes Private Equity Symposium

Professor Samir Parikh spearheaded a symposium hosted by the University of Pennsylvania Law Review.

Professor Samir Parikh spearheaded a symposium hosted by the University of Pennsylvania Law Review, “Debt Market Complexity: Shadowed Practices and Financial Injustice.” Parikh developed the topic, which explored private equity’s shadowed practices in distressed debt markets.

“The idea was to bring together professionals in the distressed debt market, practitioners who represent them, and academics. Unless you have individuals from all sides of the table, the fear is you build an echo chamber. As an area that’s traditionally dominated by males, the organizers also sought to promote gender diversity among the speakers.

It was a massive success. Over 400 academics, practitioners, and journalists attended by video or in person. Professor Parikh co-organized the symposium with Vincent Buccola (Wharton), Elisabeth de Fontenay (Duke), Sujeet Indap (Financial Times), and Kate Waldock (Millstein Center at Columbia).
