Grads Achieve Highest Bar Pass and Employment Rates In Oregon

Lewis & Clark’s Class of 2023 achieved the highest post-graduate employment rate of any law school in Oregon and continued the school’s trend of holding the highest bar pass rate in the state.

Lewis & Clark’s Class of 2023 achieved the highest post-graduate employment rate of any law school in Oregon and continued the school’s trend of holding the highest bar pass rate in the state.

Just over 90% of 2023 graduates were already working in post-grad positions. This was the highest percentage employed across all Oregon law schools for the 2023 graduating class.

(As of the ABA-designated reporting date, approximately 10 months after graduation.)

82% of Lewis & Clark’s Class of 2023 graduates passed the Oregon State Bar Exam on their first attempt in July. This performance was 7% higher than the statewide average of 75%.

This is particularly impressive since Lewis & Clark is the largest law school in the state and usually mirrors the statewide average.

Associate Dean of Student Affairs Libby Davis attributes at least part of the success to Professor Sandy Patrick’s Advanced Analysis in Pre-Bar Skills course, which has been offered since 2017.

In employment, the over 90% of 178 Class of 2023 graduates were employed within 10 months of graduation.

Equally impressive, 85% of those employed are in bar-required or JD-advantage positions, and an additional 2.2% in bar-required fellowships and clinic positions, which are classified as law school funded.

Most graduates elected to stay local, with 108 grads employed in Oregon post-graduation. The second and third largest employment locations were Washington and California respectively.
