As of summer 2025, the LITC has served 216 Oregonians in a variety of tax-related matters—a significant increase in case volume from prior years. This growth is due in large part to the addition of Rianka Macwan, ’24, who returned to the clinic as the ABA Christine Brunswick Public Service Fellow, and has focused on expanding access to tax justice for adults in custody. Her work has allowed the clinic to reach a population long excluded from traditional tax services, while also freeing up capacity for the clinic to expand its general docket.
In 2025, the LITC also deepened its educational and outreach mission by offering a second summer session, providing students with additional hands-on opportunities, and ensuring greater continuity of service for clients with ongoing matters. To further its public education efforts, the clinic expanded its social media presence to include YouTube and Instagram, offering accessible, multilingual content on taxpayer rights, common IRS notices, and how to respond to tax controversies. These developments reflect the clinic’s growing role as a regional leader in taxpayer advocacy, education, and training.
