Last fall, the Small Business Legal Clinic hosted a forum on business law that was both a knowledge exchange and a celebration of some of the small businesses that the SBLC represents. At “Contracts with Benefits: How Contract Drafting Can Do More for Clients, People, and the Planet,” guest experts from around the country spoke on how to contract in a way that’s more responsible to the community and to international human rights, more helpful to clients, and how to utilize design-thinking principles or emerging concepts, such as relational contracting.

Local small businesses, all SBLC clients, catered the food, from breakfast to reception drinks. There were conchas and empanadas from Panadería La Casa de Mamá, arepas—stuffed cornmeal cakes—from La Arepa, juice, smoothies, and Mexican street snacks from Xocotl, and bar service from Top It Off Bartending.
