Alums engaged in two Oregon Supreme Court cases held at Lewis & Clark Law School in a virtual remote setting this year. Cody Hoesly ’02 represented the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association in Deep Photonics Corp v. Joseph G. LaChapelle, a fascinating look into a startup business entity and its shareholders. John Paul Evans ’13, represented Kyle Allan Belden, in State of Oregon v. Kyle Allan Belden, which focused on the right to confront witnesses at trial, and specifically, the state’s responsibility when a witness does not show up and the defendant’s right to reject a continuance of the trial to give the state time to bring the witness to testify.
