1970s

Steve Kantor JD ’74 Was named an Oregon Jewish Community Foundation’s Legacy Society Honoree, together with his wife, Elaine Kantor. The award recognizes the couple’s longstanding dedication to and support of Portland’s Jewish community and OJCF. Kantor is a past president and one of the founding members of the organization, as well as an inaugural member of the foundation’s professional advisors group. 7/15/16

Lou Savage JD ’74 Became administrator for Oregon’s Workers’ Compensation Division. Savage recently returned to Oregon after spending two and a half years providing consulting and training on law reform issues to attorneys in North Africa and the Middle East. A member of the Oregon State Bar, he has spent his career working on consumer and business issues in the nonprofit, private, and public sectors. Savage served as Oregon insurance commissioner from 2012 to 2013 and directed DCBS legislative activity as senior policy advisor from 2003 to 2012. Before joining the state, he served as director of Multnomah County Legal Aid and state director for Oregon Congressional Representative Ron Wyden’s office. Savage also spent 10 years in private law practice. 7/7/16

Henry Lorenzen JD ’76 Was elected to chair the Northwest Power and Conservation Council’s four-state energy and fish and wildlife planning agency. Lorenzen, of Pendleton, Oregon, is an attorney, licensed professional electrical engineer, and third-generation dry land wheat farmer. He was first appointed to the council in August 2012. In April 2015, he was reappointed and unanimously confirmed by the Oregon Legislature. Previously, he was a partner in the law firm of Corey, Byler, Rew, Lorenzen & Hojem, where he continues to serve as of counsel. Lorenzen has served as an assistant U.S. attorney in the U.S. Department of Justice, a member of the Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission, a member and chair of the Oregon Environmental Quality Commission, and a member and president of the Oregon State Board of Higher Education. 4/8/16

Philip Berkowitz JD ’78 Was named a cochair of Littler’s financial services industry group. Berkowitz, a shareholder, is based in the firm’s New York City office. 5/18/16 • Was named vice chair of the Discrimination and Equality Law Committee of the International Bar Association through December 31, 2017. Berkowitz, a shareholder in Littler’s New York office and U.S. cochair of the firm’s international employment law practice group, will support and recommend initiatives to promote awareness of discrimination and equal opportunity issues in this role. He also serves as vice chair of the American Bar Association’s international employment law committee and previously chaired the New York State Bar Association’s International Law Practice Section. 2/10/16

Gayle Nachtigal JD ’78 Was nominated by President Obama to a new term on the board of the State Justice Institute. The State Justice Institute awards grants to state courts to help foster innovative, efficient solutions to common issues faced by all courts. Nachtigal served on the Washington County bench from 1991 until 2013, and was presiding judge from 1996 to 2002. She has also been a Hillsboro attorney and formerly worked for the Washington County district attorney’s office. 6/8/16

Robert M. Tobiassen JD ’78 Was a guest lecturer for a law class at the University of California at Davis. Tobiassen gave an overview of the federal regulatory system for alcohol, drawing on his knowledge as the former chief counsel for the Department of the Treasury’s Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau. 1/29/16

Steve Stadum JD ’81 Was named executive vice president and chief operating officer for the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. Stadum, who lost both his parents to cancer, had been the COO of the Knight Cancer Institute since 2010. In his new role, he will be responsible for all operational activities of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, which employs more than 2,700 faculty and support staff. 5/2/16

Micah Stolowitz JD ’81 Joined Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt as the result of a merger between that firm and Stolowitz Ford Cowger in September 2015. 10/12/15

Katherine Armstrong JD ’82 Joined the Washington, D.C., office of Drinker Biddle & Reath as counsel. Previously a Federal Trade Commission attorney, Armstrong is part of the firm’s government and regulatory affairs group. 1/15/16

Peter Monson JD ’82 Was appointed by Colorado’s Governor John Hickenlooper to the board of commissioners for Clear Creek County. Monson worked for the U.S. Department of Justice’s Environment and Natural Resources Division for more than 30 years, serving as a managing attorney, assistant chief, and senior trial attorney, and sat on the Clear Creek school board from 2009 to 2012. He will serve out the rest of the year in place of the late Tom Hayden. 4/8/16

Molly Marcum JD ’83 Was named in the 2015 and 2016 issues of Best Lawyers magazine for her work in health law. Marcum serves on the executive committee of the Oregon State Bar Health Law Section and the board of directors of the Oregon Association of Defense Counsel, and is a member of the Lewis & Clark Law Alumni Board. She is a shareholder with Keating Jones Hughes. 11/19/15

Sandijean Fuson JD ’84 Was awarded the 2014 Oregon New Lawyers Division Pro Bono Challenge Award for the Highest Level of Pro Bono Service in the Solo Practitioner category. The award was presented by Oregon Supreme Court Justice Richard C. Baldwin, who thanked Fuson for her service to rural Oregon and Malheur County. Fuson is licensed to practice in Oregon, Idaho, and federal courts. Fuson Law Offices are located in Vale and Portland, Oregon, and Boise, Idaho. 1/28/16

Paul Kaufman JD ’84 Joined the Del Mar, California, office of Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton as a partner in the firm’s real estate, land use, and environmental practice group and energy practice. 10/12/15

Kathryn Smith Root JD ’84 Received the Department of Homeland Security U.S. Coast Guard Public Service Commendation on October 15, 2015, during the American Bar Association’s Family Law Section Fall Conference, held in Portland, Oregon. The award recognizes Root’s contributions to the U.S. Coast Guard’s 13th District’s Legal Assistance program from 2001 to 2015. 10/22/15

Pamela Barrow JD ’85 Was promoted to vice president of energy, environmental, and sustainability for the Northwest Food Processors Association (NWFPA), a trade group representing food processors in Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. Barrow is responsible for policy and advocacy and for managing NWFPA’s innovative and nationally recognized industrial energy efficiency and sustainability programs. 1/28/16

Kenneth Fox JD ’85 Published Negotiation: Strategy, Style, and Skills, 3rd Edition with Nadja Alexander and Jill Howeison (Lexis Nexis Butterworths) in Australia. The U.S. edition is forthcoming. The text is intended for law, business, and other professionals who negotiate in increasingly complex contexts. Fox is a professor of business at Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota, and a senior fellow in the Hamline University School of Law’s Dispute Resolution Institute. He also serves as academic director for the law school’s masters in the study of law program. 10/12/15

Winfield D. Ong JD ’85 Was appointed by President Barack Obama to a seat on the U.S. District Court for Southern Indiana. Ong had been the criminal prosecution chief for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Indiana since 2004. Prior to that, he served as a deputy U.S. attorney and then as a federal prosecutor. 2/10/16

Lori Coukoulis JD ’86 Was sworn in as a municipal judge for Woodburn, Oregon, after serving as the city’s judge pro tem for the past few years. Coukoulis is the first new Woodburn municipal judge in 35 years. 2/10/16

Jolie Russo JD ’88 Was appointed U.S. magistrate judge in Eugene, Oregon, on February 25, 2016, following the retirement of the Honorable Thomas M. Coffin. Russo has served as a staff attorney and senior staff attorney for the District of Oregon since 1988. Since 2004, she has been an adjunct assistant professor at both the University of Oregon School of Law and Lewis & Clark Law School. Russo served 10 years as a Citizen Review Board Panel chair for the Oregon Supreme Court and is an active member of the U.S. District Court, District of Oregon, Local Rules Advisory Committee; the Federal Criminal Procedure and Practice Committee; and the Federal Bar Association. 3/2/16

Leslie Bottomly JD ’90 Was named to the Multnomah County Circuit Court to fill a vacancy created by the transition of Judge Youlee You to the U.S. District Court. A partner at Ater Wynne, Bottomly focused her practice on employment and health care law, and she has worked as an arbitrator and mediator for business disputes. 3/30/16

Robert Kyte JD ’90 Was named to succeed founder Donald W. Kemper upon his retirement as the CEO of Healthwise. Kyte returns to Healthwise after spending the last six years as president of the nonprofit Adventist Risk Management, a riskmanagement insurance broker and administrator. He was also president and CEO of affiliate Gencon Insurance Company. While with Adventist Risk Management, he led the organization to improved performance and reduced costs, while significantly increasing revenue growth. Prior to that, Kyte served Healthwise as general counsel and in other key roles from 1990 to 2009. 4/8/16

David S. Mann JD ’91 Was appointed by Governor Jay Inslee to the Washington Division I Court of Appeals, which covers King, Snohomish, Island, San Juan, Skagit, and Whatcom Counties. Mann is a partner at Gendler & Mann, LLP, in Seattle. His law career spans more than two decades and he has extensive experience in environmental and land use litigation and appeals. Mann has also served on the board of directors and as president of the Washington Environmental Council, the Northwest Fund for the Environment, and the Marymoor Velodrome Association. He has been named a Washington Super Lawyer by Washington Law & Politics magazine for the past 10 years. 7/12/16

Mark Meininger JD ’91 Joined Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt as the result of a merger between that firm and Stolowitz Ford Cowger in September 2015. 10/12/15

Robert “Bob” James Miller JD ’91 Was appointed by the President and Vice-President of the Navajo Nation to the new Council of Economic Advisors. The council will work with the executive branch to help develop economic activities on the reservation and will focus on developing the private sector economy. Formerly a law professor at Lewis & Clark, where he still teaches summer Indian law courses, Miller is a professor at the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University and a tribal judge. 7/11/16

Scott A. Morrill JD ’91 Has left his job with the Oregon State Bar to go to China with his wife, Jane, where they are teaching students about intercultural communications, business writing, world events, Western culinary skills, and tourism. Morrill says that he and his wife are learning about China and its 5,000year cultural history as part of the exchange. 4/15/16

Bryan K. Scott JD ’91 Was sworn in as the 88th president of the State Bar of Nevada on June 30, 2016, by Nevada Chief Justice Ron Parraguirre. Scott, who is the first African American to hold the office, has served on the State Bar of Nevada’s Board of Governors since 2006. He is a past president of the Clark County Law Foundation, the Clark County Bar Association, and the Las Vegas Chapter of the National Bar Association. Scott is an assistant city attorney with the civil division for Las Vegas, where he advises the Las Vegas City Council and the Las Vegas Planning Commission on land-use, zoning, planning, and ethics issues. He has been with the Las Vegas City Attorney’s office since 1996. 7/12/16

Linden “Linn” Evans JD ’92 Was named president and chief operating officer of Black Hills Corporation. Evans served as president and chief operating officer of utilities for the company since 2003. In that position, he led the company’s electric and natural gas utilities, power generation, and coal mining businesses. Evans’ new role encompasses all of the company’s business segments, including the early 2016 addition of the oil and gas exploration and production subsidiary and the utility properties of SourceGas. 1/7/16

Steve Leskin JD ’92 Was named port manager of the Port of Siuslaw. Leskin spent 23 years as an attorney and municipal judge in Oregon before accepting this position. 2/10/16

Dawn McIntosh JD ’92 Was elected Clatsop County circuit court judge in the May 2016 election to replace Judge Philip Nelson, who retired this year. McIntosh will start her new position January 1, 2017. Ingrid Brydolf JD ’93 Was named cochair of the health care practice at Davis Wright Tremaine. Brydolf is a partner in the firm’s Portland office. She was also named 2016 Portland Lawyer of the Year in Health Care by Best Lawyers magazine. 1/19/16

Gustavo “Tavo” Cruz Jr. JD ’93 Joined Farleigh Wada Witt, a fullservice business and financial services law firm in Portland, Oregon. Cruz’s practice focuses on commercial finance, corporate finance, and general business. He has over 20 years of experience representing banks, commercial lenders, and other financial service providers in complex commercial loan transactions. Cruz currently serves as a commissioner for the Portland Development Commission and is on several nonprofit boards. 6/14/16

Julie Clark JD ’95 Joined Lathrop & Gage’s energy practice team in Denver as of counsel. Experienced in oil and gas title examination and litigation, Clark previously was with Fox Rothschild. Prior to that, she was an oil and gas title examination and transactional attorney and litigator at a full-service law firm. Clark has also reviewed and drafted various transactional documents ranging from oil and gas leases, ratifications, and extensions to seismic agreements and mineral deeds. 3/30/16

Amy Parks JD ’95 Was appointed acting insurance commissioner of Nevada. Parks has 11 years with the Nevada Division of Insurance, and this is her second term as acting commissioner. She has served as chief insurance counsel and hearing officer for the division since 2009, and insurance counsel and hearing officer since 2004. 10/12/15

Henry Darwin JD ’96 Was named chief of operations for Arizona by Governor Doug Ducey. Darwin has served Arizona for 18 years, most recently as the director of the state’s department of environmental quality. 10/12/15

Bob Randall JD ’96 Was appointed executive director of the Colorado Department of Natural Resources by Governor John Hickenlooper. Randall had served as the interim director of the department since February 2016. He served as the deputy executive director from 2010 to 2016, and assumed the additional role of chief operations officer in 2014. Randall has played instrumental roles in numerous departmental projects, ranging from new regulatory standards at the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission to shaping Colorado’s approach to natural resource management on federal lands. 6/8/16

Stacy Stotts LLM ’96 Joined Polsinelli PC’s environmental and natural resources practice as a shareholder. Stotts has experience representing clients in environmental regulatory and administrative matters, enforcement matters, private party suits, compliance counseling, and corporate and property transactions. She has represented clients in the areas of air, water, Superfund, and hazardous waste law. Her work also includes assisting clients in commenting on proposed agency rulemaking. Stotts, who spent the last 18 years as an environmental law attorney and partner at Stinson Leonard Street LLP, has been included in the environmental law section of Best Lawyers in America since 2013 and has been recognized in Chambers USA, America’s Leading Lawyers for Business for environmental law since 2009. 7/7/16

Phil Bender JD ’97 Was appointed by his partners as the new managing partner of Ring Bender LLLP, a national environmental law firm with offices in Portland, Orange County, Miami, and Pittsburgh. Karla Raettig JD ’97 Was presented with a 2015 Lewis & Clark Law School Distinguished Environmental Graduate Award. Raettig is the executive director of the Maryland League of Conservation Voters. 11/1/15

Tamara A. Hanlon JD ’98 Was named the court commissioner for Yakima Municipal Court, where she will handle misdemeanor cases for 20 hours a week. Hanlon will also continue to work for the Yakima County prosecutor’s office, where she most recently managed felony appeals. 2/10/16

Quinlan Steiner JD ’98 Was appointed Alaska’s public defender for the next four years. Steiner has practiced law at the state’s public defender agency for seven years. 4/8/16

Kenneth “KC” Schefski JD ’99 Was presented with a 2015 Lewis & Clark Law School Distinguished Environmental Graduate Award. Schefski is the acting director of the Waste and Chemical Enforcement Division of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Office of Civil Enforcement, in Washington, D.C. 11/1/15

Román Hernández JD ’00 Joined K&L Gates as partner in Portland. With a focus on employment law, labor law, and business litigation, Hernández represents employers in the defense of discrimination, unfair labor practices, harassment, and wage abuse allegations and on international matters involving multinational contracts. He also acts as lead counsel in class action disputes at the state and federal level, in addition to arguing before the National Labor Relations Board. 5/27/16

Kate Cottrell Leonard JD ’00 Was named the Title IX/ADA coordinator at the University of Washington April 2016. “I want to recognize the wonderful training I received at Lewis & Clark for helping me get here,” says Leonard. 6/6/16

Rob Roy Smith JD ’00 Was included by Law360 in its “Top Attorneys Under 40 for Native American Law” list. Smith was one of only three lawyers selected nationwide for this honor. 5/10/16

Lorne Dauenhauer JD ’02 Joined Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart as a shareholder in the firm’s Portland office. He focuses a large portion of his practice on qualified and nonqualified retirement plans, such as employee stock ownership plans, multiemployer (Taft Hartley) pension plans, and executive and equitybased compensation arrangements. 5/27/16

James Bronson JD ’03 Was named to the Multnomah County Circuit Court to fill a vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Alicia Fuch. Bronson previously worked as chief deputy defender for Oregon’s Office of Public Defense Services, Appellate Division, before starting a private practice focused on criminal appeals. 3/30/16

Kimberlyn (Trotter) Silverman JD ’03 Was named the 2015 DUII Prosecutor of the Year by the Oregon DUII Multi-Disciplinary Training Task Force. 5/4/16

Andrew Bowman LLM ’04 Was named president of the Land Trust Alliance, a national land conservation organization that represents more than 1,100 member land trusts supported by more than 100,000 volunteers and 5 million members nationwide. Bowman previously served as the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation’s (DDCF) program director for the environment. During his 10 years at DDCF, he developed and obtained approval for more than $100 million in grants. 2/10/16

Mark Barzda LLM ’05 Joined Gevurtz Menashe as of counsel. Barzda has spent 10 years practicing family law in Portland, with an emphasis on alternative dispute resolutions. He is certified as a practitioner in collaborative law, a discipline that focuses on alternatives to litigated family law matters. Barzda will continue handling divorce, custody/ parenting time, child support, contempt, and modification legal matters in Oregon. 7/7/16

Ethan Hasenstein JD ’05 Was appointed corporate counsel to the Western Rivers Conservancy, a Portland-based organization dedicated to the conservation of the West’s outstanding river ecosystems. Hasenstein provides legal support to staff in WRC’s Portland, Denver, and San Francisco offices in property acquisition, nonprofit governance, and development matters. 1/05/16

Kimberlee A. Stafford BA ’94, JD ’05 Received the 2015 Oregon State Bar President’s Sustainability Award. A partner at Tonkon Torp, Stafford has helped move the firm steadily toward adopting comprehensive sustainable office practices and has promoted sustainability education and sustainable law office practices to Portland’s professional and business organizations. She is a member of the Multnomah County Advisory Committee on Sustainability and Innovation, has chaired the Office Practices Committee of Oregon Lawyers for a Sustainable Future, and is a former executive committee member of the Oregon State Bar Environmental and Natural Resources Section. 10/8/15

Brett VandenHeuvel JD ’05 Received the Oregon State Bar Environmental and Natural Resources Section Leadership and Service Award on December 10, 2015. VandenHeuvel is the executive director of Columbia Riverkeeper, where he leads the organization’s legal and policy work to protect clean water. Previously, he started a public interest law practice, researched climate change during expeditions to Antarctica and New Zealand, and taught science to kids at OMSI field stations throughout Oregon. 1/7/16

Chad Colton JD ’06 Was named a 2016 Rising Star by Oregon Super Lawyers magazine. Colton is a trial lawyer with Markowitz Herbold, a boutique business litigation firm headquartered in Portland. 7/12/16

Donna L. Lee JD ’06 Was named a partner in the Portland office of the firm Hart Wagner. Lee defends physicians, nurses, dentists, chiropractors, naturopathic doctors, and other health-care providers in malpractice lawsuits in Oregon and Washington state and federal court. She also regularly represents medical professionals in state licensing and professional credentialing board matters. Prior to establishing a career in law, Lee, who holds a doctorate in musicology, was a professor of 20th-century music history and theory. 1/8/16

Sara Bagheri JD ’07 Was elected to the city council of Denton, Texas. Bagheri has worked in community affairs since she returned to Denton in 2009 to practice law. She helped launch the popular Denton Community Market in 2010 as a founding board member and an attorney for the nonprofit group. Bagheri also served on the city’s Human Services Advisory Council from 2011 to 2013, was a member of the ad hoc committee that made recommendations in 2012 for the city’s smoking ban, and served as a commissioner on the city’s Zoning Board of Adjustment from 2015 until her election to the city council. 6/8/16

Jennifer Bragar JD ’07 Was promoted to owner in the Portland office of Garvey Schubert Barer. Bragar’s practice focuses on land use, real estate, municipal, and environmental law. She has been involved in several significant cases throughout Oregon, including hazardous waste cleanup actions and land use advocacy on behalf of private landowners. She regularly assists as special counsel and general counsel to multiple cities across the state. 1/5/16

John Grant JD ’07 Joined Fisher & Phillips LLP, a national labor and employment law firm, as program manager of Fisher Focus, a practice innovation initiative emphasizing legal project management, process improvement, and technology adoption. In his new role, Grant works with the firm’s lawyers and managers to drive efficiency through a focus on customer value, data-driven decision-making, and a cycle of continuous improvement. Grant is a former intellectual property litigator and a fourth-generation attorney who spent eight years in the software industry before earning his JD. 5/18/16

Blerina Kotori JD ’07 Was elected to partnership with Tonkon Torp. Kotori is a member of the firm’s labor and employment and information privacy and security practice groups. She was named a 2015 Rising Star in the employment and labor category by Oregon Super Lawyers magazine. 12/18/15

Harry Wilson JD ’07 Was named a 2016 Rising Star by Oregon Super Lawyers magazine. Wilson is a trial lawyer with Markowitz Herbold, a boutique business litigation firm headquartered in Portland. 7/12/16

Jesse Cowell JD ’08 Was named shareholder of Davison Van Cleve. Cowell handles a variety of matters before state utility commissions, including rate adjustments, rulemakings, and accounting issues, and litigates in state courts on behalf of both individuals and industrial corporations. 9/29/2015

Jessica McConnell JD ’08 Has become a partner with Greene & Markley, a commercial law firm in Portland. McConnell joined the firm as a paralegal in 2004. She was promoted to associate in 2008, after earning her JD and a federal tax law certificate. For seven years, McConnell has volunteered at the Oregon State Bar’s pro bono 42 bankruptcy clinic. She also serves on multiple bar committees and regularly presents at continuing legal education seminars. At the OSB Family Law Section 2015 Annual Conference, McConnell and fellow Greene & Markley partner Don Grim presented “Addressing Taxes Throughout a Dissolution Case.” 5/18/16

Sara Sayles JD ’08 Joined Intelekia Law Group as of counsel. Sayles’s practice focuses on general civil litigation and transactional matters, and she has expertise in real estate, land use, workers’ compensation, medical malpractice, and employment law. Previously an attorney at Houser & Allison, she offers legal services in Oregon, Washington, and California. 1/22/16

Tyler Volm JD ’08 Was appointed president of the Multnomah Bar Association Young Lawyers Section. Volm is an associate at Barran Liebman LLP, where his practice focuses on employment litigation and advice. He works with business owners and in-house counsel to ensure compliance with changes in the law, and defends employers in litigation. 7/14/16

Kelley Amburgey-Richardson JD ’09 Was appointed to a threeyear term on the Washington State Supreme Court Gender and Justice Commission, the mission of which is to provide a leadership role in eliminating gender discrimination and bias in the state’s legal system. Kathy Black JD ’09 Relocated from Portland to Albuquerque, New Mexico, and was admitted to the State Bar of New Mexico in December 2015. Black remains an attorney for the U.S. Department of Energy, now representing the Southwestern Power Administration based in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Melina LaMorticella JD ’10 Was elected chair of the Oregon chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). A member of Tonkon Torp’s business immigration practice group, LaMorticella represents regional and international companies in a variety of matters related to employment-based immigration. She has served as a volunteer liaison for the Oregon AILA chapter, working with state agencies on immigration issues, as well as community outreach efforts. 7/7/16

David Schor JD ’13 Ran for mayor of Portland in 2016. Schor’s campaign focused on making housing affordable in Portland with new dedicated revenue from an income tax on the top one percent of earners, repairing the relationship between the Portland Police Department and the community, rebuilding the city’s infrastructure, and bringing more services to East Portland. Schor is an assistant attorney general at the Oregon Department of Justice.

Jacqueline Swanson JD ’13 Was named a 2016 Kelly W.G. Clark Advocacy Award winner by Sparks of Hope, a nonprofit agency that assists child survivors of abuse. She shares the award with the Spotlight team from the Boston Globe. Swanson, an attorney at Crew Janci LLP, was instrumental in passing three recent Oregon laws supporting survivors of sexual assault. 5/18/16

Brandon Kline JD ’15 Was selected to be a Presidential Leadership Scholar, joining the second class of a leadership development initiative that draws on the resources of the presidential centers of Lyndon B. Johnson, George H.W. Bush, William J. Clinton, and George W. Bush. The six-month executive-style program starts at Monticello, Thomas Jefferson’s home, and travels to each participating presidential center so scholars can learn from former presidents, key administration officials, and leading academics. The goals are to study and put into practice varying approaches to leadership, develop a network of peers, and exchange ideas with mentors and others who can help participants make an impact in their communities. 3/2/16
