U.S. v. Hamdan: Trial by Military Commission at Guantanamo

The International Law Society will host Joseph McMillan of Perkins Coie as a featured lunch-hour guest. Mr. McMillan will describe the legal bases for the challenge to military commissions advanced by counsel for former Guantanamo detainee, Salim Hamdan, in the the case that culminated in the Supreme Court’s 2006 decision, Hamdan v. Rumsfeld. Time permitting, he will also describe Mr. Hamdan’s 2008 trial by military commission at Guantanamo, and certain features of current detainee policy.
