Michael T. Winslow ’80

Each year our Business Law Luncheon not only celebrates the accomplishments of our students and business law program, but allows us to thank the many members of the community who lend their talents to our curricular and extracurricular activities. We also invite members of the broader business and legal communities to join us in our celebration, and to use it as an opportunity to reflect on the roles that businesses and business lawyers play in our state and our region.

We are pleased to announce Michael T. Winslow ‘80 as our 2010 Distinguished Business Law Graduate.

About Michael T. Winslow

Mike Winslow was senior vice president and general counsel of StanCorp Financial Group, Inc. and its primary subsidiary Standard Insurance Company from 2001 until January 2010. In his role he had oversight of Corporate Legal, Public Affairs and Corporate Communications as well as the company’s strategic planning process. He formerly served as assistant general counsel and chief compliance officer for PacifiCorp.Prior to that, he was assistant general counsel and assistant secretary for PacifiCorp Financial Services, Inc.

A graduate of Indiana University, Mike earned his J.D. from Northwestern School of Law of Lewis & Clark College. Mike is a member of the American Bar Association and the Oregon State Bar Association.

Mike’s contributions to the business community and non-profit world are extensive. Mike served as a deputy member of the board of directors for Oregon Business Council. He sat on the Executive Boards of the Portland Business Alliance, Employers for Educational Excellence (E-3), the Advisory Board of Portland State University Business School, Friends of Forest Park and the Leadership Committee of Portland Schools Foundation: “Connected by 25.” From 2001-2005, Mike served on the Board of Directors of the Cascade AIDS Project and served as Secretary from 2002-2005. He also served on the Marketing Committee of Green Light Greater Portland.

Mike is currently a member of the Open Meadow’s Sustainability Campaign Board and The Forest Park Conservancy Sixty for Sixty Campaign Committee.
