Intellectual Property Law
Beyond the Classroom
The corporate community in the metropolitan Portland area includes international businesses such as Intel, Hewlett Packard, Nike, Adidas, Mentor Graphics, Tektronix, and Dark Horse Comics. Indeed, the technology concentration has earned the region a reputation as the "Silicon Forest."
The student organization for intellectual property law, known as IPSO (Intellectual Property Student Organization), publishes the Oregon IP Newsletter. To read more about IPSO, click here.
In addition, the Paul L. Boley Law Library of Lewis & Clark College is an official Patent and Trademark Depository, and is the only law school library to hold such a designation. Further information about the 45,000+ volume collection and the search services available through its specially trained staff may be found at the Patent & Trademark information page of the library.
Our curriculum includes three different hands-on learning opportunities:
Students can work jointly with MBA students through our Center for Technology Entrepreneurship and Law, tackle the intellectual property issues faced by small businesses in Lewis & Clark's Small Business Legal Clinic, and intern with in-house counsel through our Clinical Internship Seminar: Intellectual Property.
