- Course Format: This course will be a combination of live, zoom, and recorded classes.
- Description: The course will focus on cutting-edge issues in the ever-changing areas of Complex Litigation and Federal Courts. Students will be guided in the selection of the topic, in preparing their outline, and in the drafting of the paper. There will be some in person classes, some Zoom classes, and individual meetings with students. Some of the course sessions will focus on writing techniques, while other sessions will discuss substantive issues in Complex Litigation and Federal Courts.
- Prerequisite: Civil Procedure 1 (LAW-015) and either Federal Courts (LAW-356) or Complex Litigation (LAW-500). Only students who need Capstone or WIE credit are eligible for the course.
- Evaluation Method: Written Capstone paper (75%) and oral exam on paper (25%).

The American Bar Association accreditation standards require students to regularly attend the courses in which they are registered. Lewis & Clark expects students to attend classes regularly and to prepare for classes conscientiously. Specific attendance requirements may vary from course to course. Any attendance guidelines for a given class must be provided to students in a syllabus or other written document at the start of the semester. Sanctions (e.g., required withdrawal from the course, grade adjustment, and/or a failing grade) will be imposed for poor attendance.
