Video: Experts connect animal law to critical social issues

The Center for Animal Law Studies (CALS), in partnership with the Animal League Defense Fund, hosted the 17th annual Animal Law Conference October 16-18.  With nearly 300 people in attendance, the conference is the largest, longest-running conference devoted to animal law in the world.

In this video, CALS organizers and conference speakers talk about work in their specific field and why animal law is relevant to society at large.

The conference is largely organized by law students from the Student Animal Legal Defense Fund at Lewis & Clark Law School and more than half of the attendees were law students from across the country.

This year legal scholars, advocates and professionals from a variety of disciplines addressed the link between animal law and other social issues such as domestic violence, climate change, international trade, religion, and social justice movements.
