U.S. News & World Report ranks the law school’s Environmental Law Program the best* in the country for 2022, continuing Lewis & Clark’s record of taking the first or second spot in the rankings for the last 25 years.

The Environmental Law Program is renowned for its faculty and the depth and breadth of its offerings. These include dozens of courses, three clinics/institutes, numerous legal practicums and externship options, and two on-campus environmental law nonprofits that work with students. We offer three degrees with an environmental law focus: a JD with an environmental law certificate, an LLM in environmental law (in-person and distance-learning options), and a master of studies in environmental law (MSL) for professionals who are not pursuing a JD (in-person and distance-learning options).

*Joining us in the #1 spot for environmental law are the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University and the University of California at Berkeley School of Law.

MSL and LLM Offered Online

Never content with past accomplishments, the Environmental Law Program bolstered its offerings recently with the addition of an online distance-learning option for its popular MSL, making the degree for nonlawyers available to professionals regardless of their location. The school also offers an online LLM, which attracts lawyers from around the world.
