Eight Annual Joyce Ann Harpole Awards
Sunrise...Sunset...Reflections on Balancing Family and a Law Career
The Honorable Ellen F. Rosenblum currently serves on the Oregon Court of Appeals. Prior to her appointment as a judge of the appellate court, she was a Circuit Court Judge in Multnomah County. Judge Rosenblum is a strong advocate for judicial outreach in the community and has chaired the Oregon Citizens Justice Conference. She also chairs the Governor's Advisory Committee on Corrections Population Forecasting and sits on the Advisory Board of the Oregon Campaign for Equal Justice. Judge Rosenblum has received awards for her work in judicial outreach, ethics, promoting women in the profession, and mentoring of young lawyers.
2006 Harpole Attorney Award
Carol Bernick is the eighth Harpole Award recipient. She has built a robust law practice at Davis Wright Tremaine over the past 16 years, where she has been involved with firm administration, contributed numerous hours to community and pro bono efforts and balances all these endeavors and accomplishments with a fulfilling personal life and raising her two children. Bernick is involved with the children’s advocacy group, Stand for Children, and she has also worked with Planned Parenthood, Artists Repertory Theatre and Mercy Corps.
2006 Harpole Memorial
Legacy Scholarship
The eighth annual Harpole Memorial Legacy Scholarship will be awarded to Margot Lutzenhiser. Lutzenhiser is active in Lewis & Clark Law School student activities and community activities. She volunteers as a family and neighborhood mediator for Resolution Northwest. She has been involved with the Women's Law Caucus, Criminal Law Society and paddled on the Lewis & Clark Dragon Board Team. Lutzenhiser plans to pursue a career in public service working for the consumer protection division of the Department of Justice, the Federal Trade Commission, or for a consumer watchdog group such as the Consumer Federation of America.
