Courses are open to law students, lawyers, and college graduates interested in law. Housing is available on-campus or in nearby neighborhoods.
SPECIAL NOTE: Summer classes may vary each week, so you MUST check Self-Service to see the EXACT dates on which class will be held. Visiting and prospective students may use the public-viewable catalog in Self-Service here.
SUMMER EXAMS: Read the Summer Exam page CAREFULLY! Summer School exam dates vary depending on the specific course. You are responsible for being aware of potential exam dates when you register for courses. The last potential exam date in Session I is June 29, 2026. The last potential exam date in Session II is August 3, 2026. Do not make travel plans without knowing when your last exam may be.
Summer Programs
Animal Law
This summer, dive into our robust course offerings and study with some of the best animal law professors around — from home! Lewis & Clark Law School has the only summer intensive animal law program.

Please note: Prospective visiting students should apply for financial aid at their home institutions as soon as possible. Courses are open to visiting students and auditors. Courses may be taken for credit, audit, or audit with a certificate. Auditing students must first receive permission to register and enrollment depends on space availability.

Environmental Law
Students from accredited law schools looking for law school credit, U.S. lawyers who would like to audit courses for CLE credit, international lawyers and graduates of baccalaureate institutions wishing to audit courses in their area of interest are all welcome to come and take our courses while enjoying our beautiful city and campus.

Tuition
During the summer, students pay per credit hour. The tuition for Summer 2026 is $2359.00 per credit hour. Auditors who are alumni, government or nonprofit employees, or who are not receiving a certificate receive tuition discounts. Check with the registrar for specific amounts.
Financial Aid
Financial aid is available. Students should apply for aid as early as possible in the spring semester. Special rules apply to the distribution of summer school aid. Lewis & Clark students should contact Financial Aid, at 503-768-7090 or fao@lclark.edu. Visiting students should contact the financial aid office at their home school.
No financial aid is available for auditing students.
Deposits
Visiting students and auditors must submit a $150 nonrefundable deposit with their registration.

Dates & Deadlines
Summer registration opens February 19, 2026. Lewis & Clark students may add and drop summer school courses online through May 25, 2026. After that date, all add and drop transactions must be done through the Registrar’s Office.
