Description: This course will explore the theory and practice of family mediation in depth. We will examine the prospectives of mediator, the clients, and the attorneys representing the clients. Issues will include family dynamics, mediator impartiality, confidentiality, the appropriateness of mediation in a given situation, and regulation of mediation. The course will combine lectures, discussions, guest speakers, videotape, and simulations. It is strongly suggested that students have previous basic knowledge of family law, either from taking a family law course or independent reading.
