Center for Business Law and Innovation Hosts First Workshop

CBLI hosted its first Xperiential Workshop with presentations from Intel and NW Natural executives.

The Center for Business Law and Innovation (CBLI) at Lewis & Clark Law School hosted its first Xperiential workshop on October 19 with Trevor Jones and Michael Labbee from Intel and luncheon speaker Shawn Filippi ’99 from NW Natural.

Accelerating the Deal Process and Maximizing Returns gave students insight into how Intel’s legal and business teams work together to close deals. The workshop was centered around a hypothetical case study of an industrial optics company seeking to do business with a software developer. “The event allowed students to work in teams on a multi-faceted negotiation exercise and receive meaningful feedback from experts in the field,” stated Samir Parikh, Co-Chair, Center for Business Law and Innovation.

Alumna Shawn Filippi ’99, who is the Vice-President, Chief Compliance Officer and Corporate Secretary for NW Natural, was the lunch speaker.  Shawn spoke to students about her career path from Lewis and Clark to NW Natural and her work as in-house counsel.

Feedback from students who attended the workshop was extremely positive, and the CBLI plans to have more of these workshops in the future.
