Cynthia von Schlichten has been practicing law for over 13 years. A lifelong animal rights advocate, she is currently the General Counsel for Farm Sanctuary, Inc., a U.S.-based animal rights nonprofit, and has been with the organization for over three years. Spending several years in private practice earlier in her legal career, Cynthia gained valuable experience in civil litigation and probate matters, which has proved useful in her current role at Farm Sanctuary. She has also worked for several other animal advocacy organizations over the course of her career. Cynthia is a member of the American Bar Association’s Animal Law Committee, its Animals in Agriculture subcommittee, and is co-chair of its International Animal Law subcommittee. She is a regular speaker on animal rights issues, with presentations at the Canadian Animal Law Conference in 2022 and the International Animal Rights Conference in 2023.
For over 20 years, Cynthia has been a dedicated participant in the animal protection movement and remains impassioned about taking on the challenges ahead to make the world a better place for animals.
