Massachussetts Victim and Witness Assistance

The Office of Attorney General Martha Coakley serves victims and witnesses in a variety of ways. Victim and Witness Division advocates are assigned to work with victims throughout the investigations and prosecutions we pursue. In criminal matters, we are mandated to inform victims of the rights afforded to them under the Victim Rights Law, M.G.L. c. 258B, and work to fulfill them. In all of our matters, we keep people informed about the case involving them and give them a voice in it. We routinely assist victims and their families in finding the resources available to them, within and without of the office, that will best meet their individual needs.
