National Crime Victim Law Institute

Increasing Access to Legal Services

February 05, 2018

We are excited to announce a partnership with Equal Justice Works and the Office for Victims of Crime to launch the Crime Victims Justice Corps (CVJC), a two-year program that will provide civil legal services to victims of crime and enforce victims’ rights. The program aims to place over 60 lawyers (Legal Fellows) and 30 law students at nonprofit organizations across the country to represent victims of human trafficking and other violent crimes.

In our role as the training and technical assistance provider, this Spring NCVLI will begin providing the knowledge and resources needed for these lawyers and law students to effective represent these clients, from enforcing their rights to addressing the issues arising from their victimization, such as employment, education, housing, immigration, family law, income instability, and loss of medical care and benefits.
