Save the Date–July 13! Empowering Local Climate Action: Education, Policy and Practice

It’s time to take solutions to the climate crisis into our own hands. Enjoy the company of others who are ready to race to save the planet.

April 29, 2026

Join Future Climate Collective, Lewis & Clark Law School and its Green Energy Institute for a day of “Empowering Local Climate Action: Education, Policy and Practice.”

High school students and other climate advocates of all ages are welcome to join us in a day long event filled with fun, learning, and skill building to get your community on a path toward meeting climate, environmental justice, and health goals. This will be a free event with raffle prizes offered throughout the day! A livestream will be available for those who are unable to attend in person.

Hear from inspiring climate youth leaders, attorneys, innovators, and environmental justice advocates to boost your knowledge and skill in moving your community leaders to take action on climate goals. The in-person event will take place at Lewis & Clark College. Snacks and lunch will be provided. Raffle prizes will be awarded to attendees.

Agenda

We will start our day at 9:30 am by learning about the Future Climate Collective’s Solutions Toolkit for Youth

Then, inspired by John Doerr’s Speed & Scale: An Action Plan for Solving Our Climate Crisis Now, we will enjoy panels and workshops focused on the following topics:

Electrifying Transportation: How to “electrify” school commutes, lower air pollution in neighborhoods, and ensure EV charging is available for everyone

Decarbonizing the Grid and Infrastructure: Learn about how you can engage on the proliferation of data centers, and what kinds of alternatives exist for heating without natural gas

Fix Food: Implementing “Food Rescue” programs in schools and navigating sustainable agriculture

Protect Nature: Learn how lawyers are protecting our natural places and how you can help

Clean Up Industry: Clean Tech hubs in the PNW and “green collar” jobs in your backyard? Yes, please!

Remove Carbon from the Atmosphere: moss-based sequestration and biochar, practical ways to turn local waste into carbon sinks

Enjoy a keynote at 5:30 pm.
