Richard and Harriet Maizels Scholarship

In 2017, Richard “Dick” Maizels JD’66 and Harriet Maizels established this scholarship with the intent of helping to fund the education of a Lewis & Clark Law School student with strong academic promise. Recipients are selected based on financial need and likelihood of being successful in law. Preference is given to first generation college graduates.

Mr. Maizels is an attorney with a successful private practice in Portland. He worked at the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office as a deputy district attorney before leaving to form a private practice with two colleagues in 1969. For almost four decades, Mr. Maizels’ firm has served clients in a wide array of legal areas including family law, personal injury, criminal defense, and business matters. As a Multnomah County pro tem judge for the past twenty years, he also hears and adjudicates summary judgment motions.

Mr. Maizels is also a member of the Lewis & Clark Law School Board of Visitors, a former member of the Lewis & Clark Board of Trustees, and in the past, served as president of the Law Board of Alumni.
