The Center for Business Law and Innovation provides law students with business law training along with practical opportunities and connections within the Oregon business community.
The Center includes courses and co-curricular programs designed to:
- Educate law students about foundational business law concepts
- Provide law students with opportunities to work side by side with lawyers, entrepreneurs, and businesses
- Provide transactional legal services to emerging businesses, nonprofit ventures, and individuals
- Inspire and give students training that can help them become business leaders

Lewis & Clark students have an abundance of opportunities to gain practical, hands-on experience in criminal law in the classroom and beyond.
Outside of class, students can be regularly found working or externing for the prosecution or defense in several county offices in Oregon, as well as the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Oregon and the Federal Public Defender. Others have worked in the private sector in defense firms or in nonprofit advocacy organizations.

A thought leader in the field, the Center for Animal Law Study (CALS) offers the most extensive animal law curriculum in the world—offering more than 25 diverse animal law courses, with 18 distinct courses in rotation each year.
Lewis & Clark law students may also specialize in animal law by earning an Animal Law Certificate. CALS also offers the world’s first advanced legal degree in Animal Law, the nation’s first Master of Studies in Animal Law for non-lawyers, and the world’s first animal law doctoral program.
