Requirements and Credit

The Clinic is open to all students who have successfully completed their first year of law school.

The CVLC students earn 3 credits with grading on a credit/no credit basis. Students will participate in a weekly class covering substantive issues and lawyering skills. A portion of the weekly class is designated for discussing cases and projects with the group, and reflection on various aspects of the clinic experience. Separate from the class and reflection, students are required to work in-office on Clinic work and to meet regularly with supervisors to discuss their work and progress.

Students may request permission from Professor Garvin to complete the WIE writing requirement in the CVLC.

Credits count towards the Criminal Law Certificate.

Hours worked beyond the course requirements count toward the Pro Bono Honors Program.
