LAW: 2026 Animal Law Week Reception: Rescue, Resistance, and the Rule of Law
Join LC ALDF for the annual Animal Law Week reception featuring animal activist Zoe Rosenberg, who was sentenced to 90 days in jail for rescuing 4 sick chickens from Perdue’s Petaluma Poultry slaughterhouse in Sonoma County, California. Through discussion, historical artifacts, and community, we’ll explore how open rescue challenges industrial animal agriculture and advances justice for animals. Refreshments provided by Vtopian Artisan Cheeses. There will also be a silent Auction benefiting Lighthouse Farm Sanctuary. RSVP here.

Please join LC ALDF for a multimedia exploration of the history of the animal liberation movement. This talk will highlight key events to show how early activists demanded change and impacted the modern scope of animal advocacy. This event is a prelude to LC ALDF’s evening reception. LAW: Animal Law Week: MeatOut
Join LC ALDF for our annual MeatOut event. MeatOut celebrates Portland’s vegan food scene and encourages our campus community to consider plant-based options. Food will be available on a first come first served basis. To reduce waste, please bring your own tupperware and serve yourself only as much food as you will eat.
LAW: Legislative Campaigns to Fight Factory Farms
Join LC ALDF and Food & Water Watch to learn about their upcoming legislative campaigns and how to get involved. Food & Water Watch leads efforts in Oregon to stop factory farms by mobilizing communities, empowering students, and lobbying for stronger laws. More details to come. Vegan lunch provided by ALDF!
LAW: Cultivating Your Career in Animal Law and Advocacy: Externships and Internships
Hosted by the LC Animal Legal Defense Fund, this session speaks to the ins and outs of L&C’s Externship Program, finding or otherwise cultivating externship and internship opportunities, the application process, lessons learned, experience leveraged, and more. Attendees encouraged to bring their laptops. Lunch served.
Lighthouse Farm Sanctuary Work Party
Join ALDF on October 4th to volunteer at Lighthouse Farm Sanctuary from 10AM-1PM. We will be helping out animals by cleaning their barns and giving them lots of love! After the work party, join us for an option hike at nearby Silver Falls. Expect to leave at 8:15AM and return around 3PM or 5PM if you attend the optional hike. Open to LC ADLF’s family and friends! ALDF - Rat Way Sanctuary Work Party
Join ALDF and Rat Way Sanctuary’s team of highly dedicated humans on September 20th from 12-3pm. We will be cleaning and bundling cages, repairing hammocks, and processing apple wood sticks. All friends of ALDF welcome! Sign up here.
Rat Way Sanctuary is based in Portland, OR and provides advanced care for the most vulnerable rat populations: seniors, rats with acute or chronic medical needs, and the behaviorally challenged. They aim to provide a safety net for these animals and give them a permanent home, where all their needs will be met.
This event is capped at 8 people, but please log your name in the sign-up sheet’s waitlist section if we have met our cap or to indicate interest in future volunteer opportunities with Rat Way Sanctuary. We will send out a carpool sheet and Rat Way Sanctuary’s address to volunteers.

Learn about the Center for Food Safety’s advocacy and legal efforts to reduce and prevent the use of neonicotinoids. Vegan lunch provided.
