Alumna Cassandra Dawn Appears in Emmy Nominated ‘Documentary Now!’
Alumna Cassandra Dawn ’19 appears as an extra in an episode of Emmy Nominated American mockumentary TV series, Documentary Now! She plays a cellist in an orchestra set in the 1970s.
Dawn worked alongside John Mulaney (SNL), Taran Killam (SNL, Single Parents), Renée Elise Goldsberry (Hamilton), Tony nominee Alex Brightman (School of Rock, Beetlejuice), Tony nominee Richard Kind, James Urbaniak (Difficult People), and Paula Pell (Wine Country, AP Bio). Created by Fred Armisen, Bill Hader, Seth Meyers, and Rhys Thomas, the show premiered on IFC in 2015 and is now available on Nextflix.
“It gave me the opportunity to see all these different threads of law that I had studied working throughout the production- contracts, business law, employment law, torts, the First Amendment, and my favorite, copyright,” Dawn said. “ The experience helped me stay focused on my goals in my final year of law school, because it made what I had been working towards a concrete reality.”
Later this year, Dawn plans to relocate to Los Angeles to work in entertainment, and she appreciates the unique experience of being in front of the lens.
