Rachel Ballard Selected as 2024 International Law Fellow

The International Law Committee selected Rachel Ballard ’25 as the International Law Research Fellow for the 2024-25 academic year. Fellows provide research support to faculty and the Committee on various issues in the field of international law, including dispute resolution, environmental law, animal law, and international business law.

Rachel graduated from California State University, Chico in 2017 with a Bachelor’s degree concentrating in legal studies and international relations and minoring in great books and ideas. There, she was awarded the best brief at the Chico State Moot Court Competition.

At Lewis & Clark, Rachel has been involved in a number of student groups and leadership positions, including Lewis & Clark Law Review, L&C Plaintiff’s Law Association, and the Immigration Student Group. She has also worked as a Research Assistant to Associate Dean John Parry, assisting in the preparation of updates to the Summary Judgment: Federal Law & Practice treatise.

In this role, Rachel hopes to broaden her knowledge and experience within international law, and especially in the realms of intellectual property, human rights, and humanitarian law. “I have always loved learning about a variety of topics,” said Rachel. “I am excited to learn more about areas of international law I have yet to study and to work with the international law faculty.”
