Protecting Animals

Even as society increasingly recognizes animals as sentient beings, the laws determining their treatment continue to vary radically. Ensuring the protection of all animals is at the heart of our Animal Law Program at the Center for Animal Law Studies. Our alumni and faculty are thought leaders, and our animal law clinics are involved in changing law and policy.

Improving Criminal Justice

The inequities of our criminal justice system are becoming increasingly apparent. Yet, the work involved in making improvements to such a vast and intricate structure remains as daunting as ever. While faculty worked to share knowledge to a wider community through webinars, our clinics are engaged in several efforts to improve the criminal justice system for all.

Supporting Business Law and Innovation

The Center for Business Law and Innovation at Lewis & Clark, encompassing our entire business law program, trains students in both law and strategic analysis, giving them the skills to support innovation efforts in the businesses they will serve. Our business law clinics support marginalized entrepreneurs and individuals with students actively engaged in these efforts.

Training Climate Change Leaders for the Next 50 Years

In 1970, Lewis & Clark Law School became one of the first law schools to develop a curriculum focused on environmental, natural resources, and energy law. Now, the school is centering its work on one of the greatest challenges of the next 50 years: climate change. Our clinics, faculty and students are actively advocating for actions that support a healthier climate.
