Nicole Krishnaswami, JD ’10, is Executive Director for the Oregon Medical Board. Before becoming Executive Director in 2018, she was the Board’s Legislative and Policy Analyst for eight years. Nicole currently represents North America on the International Association of Medical Regulatory Authorities (IAMRA) Board of Directors, serves as Chair of IAMRA’s Physician Information Exchange Working Group, and is a member of many Oregon statewide and national workgroups and advisory councils focused on workforce, cultural competency, and public health. In 2023, the Federation of State Medical Boards presented Nicole with their annual Leadership Award in recognition of her outstanding and exemplary leadership, commitment, and contributions to the advancement of the public good at the state medical board level. She is a frequent lecturer at Oregon’s medical schools, hospitals, clinics, and health care conferences, and she mentors other state agency leaders as well as law students. Prior to her law degree from Lewis and Clark in 2010, Nicole earned a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. She has also worked in broadcast news and health care administrative support. Nicole is passionate about leading by example, sparking innovation, and amplifying diverse voices to advance medical regulation.
