A native of Washington, Christine is the third of six children. When she attended an all-girls Catholic high school, Christine found herself excelling at math and science and taking advanced courses outside of her high school at Ballard High School. Christine also excelled at her PSATs, landing her a spot as a semi-finalist for the National Merit Award. One of the nuns at her high school encouraged Christine to pursue a science degree in college, preferably at MIT! After discussing this with her parents, Christine applied to MIT and her move to Boston marked her first time on an airplane!
After graduating with a BS in Electrical Engineering in 1976, Christine went on to earn her Masters in electrical engineering from Northeastern University in 1984, followed by an MBA from Sacred Heart University in 1994. In Massachusetts she began working in data analysis and later moved into systems engineering. Christine relocated to San Diego in the 1980s, working on defense contracts for Sikorsky, and was eventually transferred by the company to Florida for higher level work. However, it was there that she saw the glass ceiling and decided to take the LSAT.
Christine started law school on her 44th birthday and graduated with she was 47 years old. After law school, Christine joined Northwest Law firm in Portland, Oregon, handling cases involving civil rights, employment discrimination, electronic commerce and consumer bankruptcy. During Christine legal career, she represented employees who were seeking to enforce labor and civil rights laws in the workplace. During this time, Christine also taught Remedies at Lewis & Clark from 2015 to 2020, and has judged numerous 1L appellate arguments and moot court competitions.
Since retiring in 2022, Christine has joined the Lewis & Clark Law School Board of Visitors as well as a board member for the Lewis & Clark Advocacy Center. When Christine is not busy planning her 50th class reunion with MIT and her 25th reunion at Lewis & Clark, she enjoys watching the Red Sox and Seattle Mariners games.
