The Honorable Henry Kantor '79
The Honorable Henry Kantor is a circuit court judge for Multnomah County. He was appointed to the District Court by Gov. Barbara Roberts in 1994, elected to a six-year term in 1996, and became a circuit court judge in January 1998. Kantor earned his bachelor’s degree, cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania, and his juris doctorate from Lewis & Clark Law School. He has been a member of the Oregon State Bar since 1979, and was admitted to the District of Oregon and Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in 1979, to the United States Supreme Court in 1988, and to the Court of Federal Claims in 1994. Prior to taking judicial office, his practice focused on trial and appellate law in Oregon’s state and federal courts, emphasizing complex consumer cases, commercial litigation, and class actions. He is a member of the Multnomah Bar Association, American Bar Association, Federal Bar Association, American Inns of Court, Oregon Judicial Conference, Oregon Circuit Judges Association, Oregon Commission on Judicial Fitness and Disability, Oregon State Bar House of Delegates, and Oregon Council on Court Procedures.
