What is your particular area of interest pertaining to law?

Food and Wine Law

President and co-founder of L&C’s new: Food and Wine Law Society

What do you like to do for fun?

Camping, wine tasting, cooking–especially making pasta from scratch.

Favorite places in Portland?

People’s Farmers’ Market and Food Co-Op, Food Carts, the view from the aerial tram, Oregon Zoo, Lewis & Clark.

Why did you pick Lewis & Clark Law School?

For the authenticity and collegiality of the people, the commitment to academic excellence in a collegial setting, and the openness of the school to playing a leadership role in so many areas of the local and global community.

What do you like about Lewis & Clark?

I limit myself to three things about L&C. First the student-centered, good natured availability of the school: from admissions to the deans, from the business office to the librarians. Second, the genuine interest of the faculty in identifying, promoting and developing your legal interests in their own classes and then directing you to appropriate colleagues to explore further. Third the genuine spirit of collegiality and peer support of the students.

Any reason for electing Business Law as a focus?

A good reason would be the interrelated, interdisciplinary nature of Business Law in the food and wine industries.

Looking forward to what the future brings. Any advice for new students?

Think outside the box. Learn the law of course, independently and sharing understanding with others, but in learning it see how it intersects with your unique interests and passions and create your own destiny- don’t wait for someone to “advertise an opportunity.”
