Sidney Morgan

Sidney Morgan was born and raised in Southern California and moved to Portland Oregon in April 2000.  Sidney was a youth pastor in Southern California and has been working with youth, including her work in restorative justice issues, for twenty years. She first began her restorative justice journey within Multnomah County’s Juvenile Justice Department here in Portland. In her time with Multnomah County she worked in several positions, all involving restorative justice work. As a community works leader, she supervised and worked alongside youth who were earning community service hours or restitution fines. She always found ways to incorporate relationship building with the youth, and through that developed a garden program that is still “growing strong” in the Multnomah County Juvenile Department. This program gives youth basic job-skills training that walk them through developing a business as well as selling the produce they generate.

Sidney currently works as the Restorative Justice Coordinator for Portland Public Schools. This school district is the largest in the state of Oregon and has taken a stand on district-wide Equity, Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS), and Restorative Justice practices. Sidney resides in Vancouver WA with her husband and three children.
