Apply by May 1st: Scholarships for the Law & Ethics of Animal Testing Summer Course

Due to the generosity of the William C. Borst Trust, we are proud to offer a limited number of full-tuition course scholarships for visiting students and auditing students seeking a certificate for our 2024 online Animal Law Summer Program course—The Law & Ethics of Animal Testing.

Join Professor Paul Locke, JD, DrPH and our Animal Law LLM alum, Rebecca Critser to explore the complex and oftentimes controversial regulatory framework that governs the use of animals in scientific experiments in biomedical research and in toxicity testing. Students will learn about the latest litigation and policy developments from experts who are at the forefront of this quickly evolving field. Whether you are new to the topic or a seasoned veteran, this dynamic and fast-paced course will provide you with the tools and knowledge you need to become effective advocates, policy-makers, and analysts in this critically important area of law. CALS is proud to be at the forefront of analyzing and critiquing the animal testing framework, having offered the Law & Ethics of Animal Testing course since 2014. Starting May 28, 2024, this three-credit course is offered in an online asynchronous format through the Canvas platform over ten weeks.

Scholarship Qualifications:

• Applicants must meet the requirements to take the course as a Visiting Student or Auditing Student Seeking a Certificate (certificate students are required to complete all assignments and coursework); and
• Applicants must demonstrate an outstanding commitment to animal law, with a particular interest in anti-vivisection.

How To Apply:

• Follow the instructions in this form and upload all required materials by or before May 1, 2024. All scholarship decisions are made by the Center for Animal Law Studies in its sole discretion.

Please note that receiving a scholarship does not guarantee a spot in the class. Applicants also must register for the course and follow all registration requirements for Visiting or Auditing Students. Tuition payments are not due until after scholarship decisions are made. If a scholarship is awarded, tuition will be paid on behalf of the recipient directly to the Student Accounts Office.
