Bridging the Gaps in Global Animal Law: Introducing Animalex
A global library and networking hub via a collaboration by the Center for Animal Law Studies at Lewis & Clark Law School and the Centre for Professional Legal Education at Bond University

The Center for Animal Law Studies at Lewis & Clark Law School (CALS) and the Centre for Professional Legal Education (CPLE) at Bond University are pleased to unveil Animalex. This groundbreaking global animal law educational resource library and networking hub is specially designed to support animal law teachers, researchers, advocates, attorneys, and students worldwide.
Rajesh K. Reddy, Director of the Animal Law Program at Lewis & Clark Law School, says, “In light of the real need for a hub to connect animal advocates around the globe, I’m excited to see the engagement and efforts that Animalex gives rise to.”
Animalex (named by combining ‘animal’ with the Latin ‘lex’ for law) aims to:
- Empower animal law educators by increasing the visibility of and access to animal law education outside of the formal classroom
- Advance more robust animal protection laws and policies by facilitating the sharing of animal law research
- Develop connections and collaboration among international animal advocates, with the hope of fostering animal law communities in more countries
Of the collaboration, CPLE Co-Director and Executive Dean of the Bond University Faculty of Law, Professor Nick James, says, “Animalex is the result of a collaborative effort to create a genuinely global, high-quality repository for animal law education. We are proud to have contributed to a platform that expands access to knowledge about animal law.”
CALS and CPLE wish to thank Voiceless for their generous support and for inspiring the development of Animalex.
The Center for Animal Law Studies (CALS) was founded in 2008 with a mission to educate the next generation of animal law advocates and advance animal protection through the law. With vision and bold risk-taking, CALS has since developed into a world-renowned animal law epicenter. CALS’ Alumni-in-Action from 30+ countries are making a difference for animals around the world. The advanced degree program is offered in-person and online. CALS is a self-funded Center within the law school operating under the Lewis & Clark College 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status, and is able to provide these educational opportunities through donations and grants.
Center for Animal Law Studies is located in Wood Hall on the Law Campus.
