Pakistan

Altamush Saeed is a Pakistani-based lawyer and social activist with a genuine interest in making the world a better place for all life be it humans, animals, or the environment.

Before studying at CALS, Altamush completed an LLM from the (Class of 2022) University of Michigan Law School in the areas of Global Animal, International, Constitutional, and Human Rights Law. During his time in Michigan, he won the prestigious Myint Zan LLM prize and the Outstanding LLM Student Excellence in Pro-Bono service awards, founded a society for bridging the gap between International LLM and Local JD students, served as the LLM Student Council Representative, and chaired the law school’s DEI Committee to become a voice for the invisible ones. He completed his LLB from the Lahore University of Management Sciences in Pakistan (LUMS) (Class of 2020), where he served as a founding director for the LUMS Animal Welfare Society.

Since 2014, Altamush has been running Charity Doings Foundation(CDF) (https://charitydoings.org/), a nonprofit which has helped at least 10 million humans and 500,000 animals through their solar electricity, ongoing community kitchens, tree plantations, orphanage projects (with one supporting a brilliant special education school), over 800 solar/environmentally-friendly water projects that provides water to both humans and animals, a grassroots stray animal feeding campaign and sustainable livelihood/social welfare programs. Currently, CDF is helping both humans and animals caught up in the Pakistan floods. For humans, CDF is providing cooked food, medical aid, mosquito nets, and tents. For animals, CDF is providing animal feed alongside emergency veterinary care.

Altamush is also serving as the Ambassador to CDRS (https://www.cdrsworld.org/), a nonprofit that has established Pakistan’s first and largest TNVR center/animal rescue service operations. At Lewis & Clark, he is the recipient of the Brookes Institute International Animal Law Scholarship, President of the Minority Law Student Association, Associate Editor for Animal Law Review and Clerk to Dr. Raj Reddy. He is also the LLM Representative for DALSA, SEED, Data Privacy Group, and a member of the SBA Equity & Inclusion Committee, ALDF and an extern at Best Friends Animal Society.

For Altamush, CALS is a dream come true where he is learning from his idols, and he hopes to dedicate his life to making the world a better place for all.
